Who We Are
We at New Leaf Church have identified the following 6 values as central to the heart of our mission:
Authentic Community
- We embrace each other’s journeys by sharing struggles and joys
- We welcome dialogue and sharing of perspectives, questions, reflections, and disagreements
- We practice communal prayer–for ourselves and the world
- We provide opportunities to give and study (outside of Sunday worship service)
- We challenge each other towards growth through prayer, discussion and accountability
Growing in Faith and Action
- We see the Bible as the center of our communal life
- We seek to look beyond ourselves in love and good deeds
- We regularly gather together for communal worship
- We gather together outside of Sundays for prayer, encouragement, and correction
Inclusiveness
- We see all people as being made and known by God
- We recognize and celebrate the unique gifts, abilities and experiences each person brings
- We seek to empower people to use those gifts
- We demonstrate and model Christ’s grace & acceptance for us to others
Nurturing Creativity
- We, all of us, work together to create authentic expressions of worship on Sundays
- We support each other in creative approaches to spiritual disciplines
- We encourage and provide space for people to express their creative gifts to glorify God
- We seek creative ways to serve our neighbors
- We desire to creatively address the injustices we see in our world
Active, Shared Ownership
- We believe that each of us has a role in growing and sustaining the church
- We freely contribute our gifts to this manifestation of Christ’s body
- We believe that our unique gifts and callings come together through the Holy Spirit to make this thing called church
- We maintain an open invitation for involvement in all areas of the church
Loving our neighbor
- We seek to have authentic relationships with our neighbors
- We do what we can to meet the needs of those with whom we have relationships
- We strive to be vessels of God’s love, grace and hope through word and deed to those who are hurting
- We try to make a habit of proclaiming the hope and freedom that are at the heart of the Good News of Jesus Christ
